Short Term Storage Procedures
Storage of items is provided at $1.75 per square foot per week with a minimum of 10 sqft
Items occupying space less than 10sqft will be charged as 10sqft.
We do not pro-rate weekly short term storage payments for early cancellations
We do not issue refunds for late cancellations
Storages that grow/expand mid-week will not only have the new dimensions reflected on the next recurring but the current week's invoice will be updated to reflect the new size and the difference will be immediately charged.
If you shrink the storage again before the week is over and have already been charged there will be no pro-rate.
How to set up short-term storage:
See the community managers at the front desk with measurements of the occupied floor space
The community managers will fill out a Short-Term Storage Tag and to set up a mandatory weekly recurring payment with you
You must label your items with the designated Short-Term Storage Tag & ensure the tag is visible at all times
How to cancel short-term storage:
After you have removed your items from short term storage, send an email to hello@makerlabs.com to stop further storage fees
We require written cancellation notice (an email) in order to stop charging you
Where can you store items short-term:
Short-term storage area
In flex-spaces not being used for events or upcoming events (ask a community manager)
Where you can NOT store items:
Fire exits
Pathways/Hallways
In other people's studio spaces without permission
On worktables
How Short Term Storage is Measured:
We multiply the longest item by the widest item to calculate your square footage. (i.e. the Manhattan Distance)
We round UP to the nearest square foot per linear measurement (2.5' X 5.1' becomes 3'X6' or 18sf)
Short term storage is audited daily. You must notify a community manager before 9pm of any increases to your short term storage. If there are items left unattended outside your allocated short term MakerLabs will try to move them inside your allocated storage space. Items that cannot be moved represent an increase in square footage and will be reflected on your next recurring invoice.

AKA. What happens when you make a mess in our space and don't pay for it:
MakerLabs reserves the right to move anything on the premises at any time for any reason. That means we can (re)move your items without telling you. MakerLabs takes no responsibility for your lost, damaged or stolen property
Failure to pay short term storage fees will result in item confiscation, donation, or disposal after 1 week, and may result in cancellation of membership and restricted access to MakerLabs. A 25% penalty fee will also be applied to the outstanding invoice which will have to be paid in order to set up short term storage again.
Exceptions for 24 Hour Members:
24 hour members can continue to work on their projects after staff have left with the expectation that they are actively working on their projects.
Items should be packed away in your studio space when departing, or set up short term storage if you plan on leaving your items unattended in communal workspaces.
Items left unattended by 9pm when staff are closing will be assumed as unauthorized storage, and storage fees will be applied regardless if planning on returning to work on the project after 9pm.
Items left unattended without short term storage arrangements by 12noon the next day when staff come in will be assumed as unauthorized storage, and storage fees will be applied.
Items left unattended and spread out in communal areas during operating hours for over 4 hours will be considered as unauthorized storage, and storage fees will be applied.
