Fabricator Tool Usage Policy

There will be a select few tools that will now be available for member use granted the member can follow the policies outlined below.

1. Member must prove their knowledge/proficiency of the tool(s) to a Community Manager first

   1. Read the corresponding manual for the tool(s) you would like access to.

   2. The knowledge test is $20+GST to administer, and should only take 15-30 minutes

   3. Knowledge test must be scheduled at least a day in advance (no same day bookings)
      

2. Member must also supply their own consumables for the tools and will demonstrate how to swap consumables during the knowledge test.
   

3. Fabricators will always have priority of the tool

   1. The member cannot take/use the tool without notifying staff.

   2. It must be communicated when they would like to use the tool and for how long (Discussed in person on the day of is ok)
      

4. Access to the tools will only be provided to active members, not drop-in users.
   

5. Tools must be reset to their default state so it is ready for use by the next individual and returned to the correct space.
   

6. Access can be revoked if staff has determined the member is unable to use the tool in a safe and considerate manner.

  • Supply your own blades and Domino tenons

• Makita Polisher

  • Supply your own polishing pad

MakerLabs will not be stocking replacement consumables for these tools but you can find supplies for the tools at any of the following businesses:
